API of
Memphis recently completed a
video for Bellevue Baptist Church which involved a
tough scouting dilemma - where to find and secure an
unharvested cornfield after the typical harvest
season. With obviously blessed guidance, API was able
to locate a late crop in the Nashville area with tall
green stalks of corn. The major theme of the video
drew parallels between agriculture and the church,
centering around preparation, planting, cultivation,
harvesting and rejoicing - a timely message during
the Thanksgiving season. The purpose of the video was
to convey the mission of the church - past, present
and future in delivering the message of Christ.
The five-part video involved
four major locations, location still photography and
archival/historical photography. The historical
segment stands alone as a music video insert. The
cornfield segment, used to portray the
"past," was shot and directed by Bill
Carrier. Carrier used a series of nets and filters to
capture a cinematic look to the Betacam SP. The use
of a portajib and dolly complemented the image of the
five location cornfield conversations. The eleven
minute dialogue was carried well by actor Rob Wilds
and child actor Derek Moore, cast by THEATRICS ETC.
of Memphis.
