Another :30 spot for Wonders Imperial
Tombs of China captured best of show in the
Memphis Addy awards for Sossman Bateman McCuddy
Advertising. Memphis, Tennessee-based Bill Carrier III directed and shot on 35mm piece capturing a
Chinese seal ---revealing, in slow motion the
'Wonders' logo on period parchment.
Telly awards were also gathered
for the CarrCon Production of Imperial Tombs of
China exhibit video -- a 48-minute experience.
Carrier directed and lensed over 20 artifacts on 35mm
as well as shot first and second unit for two
nights in the exhibits with Sony's Digital DVW 600
and DVW 700 cameras. "The unique ability of
chip-matching the cameras was a true advantage to
lensing in the digital domain," says Carrier,
adding that he filtered each camera identically and
utilized HMI lighting which complemented a dramatic
wraparound look. Carrier credits Sony's cameras for
delivering an "incredible contrast range" previously
unattainable on videotape.
The show has since been
translated into Spanish and Portuguese for
international distribution. Dan Conaway was writer,
David Perry the editor, and Pete Pederson created the
original score.
